We are now looking for local Mothers’ Union members in Southampton, Eastleigh and Fair Oak to provide a simple link with the Street Pastors in their area.
The idea is that in the short term they will take a share of the flip-flops collected at our Festival Service at Winchester Cathedral at 11am on 29th April, and give them to their local Street Pastor group.
In the long-term it would be good if these people could build up closer links with Street Pastors, especially linking local Mothers’ Union groups with their prayer needs.
If you feel you are in a position to help in this way, please contact us as soon as possible using the link in the bottom right of this site.
We think that such a link is already possible in Basingstoke through a Mother’s Union member whose daughter is involved in the Street Pastor scheme. Members from Basingstoke who will be attending the Festival Service will be returning on their mini-bus with flip-flops.

What a lovely idea!!
We had very exciting time on our first night in Southampton. And we gave out 12 pairs of flip flops. We would have given out more, but the team weren’t carrying enough.
These are the headlines:
– depressed/suicidal person encouraged – relatives contacted to help him home
– very drunk man helped to make phone call for taxi and get home
– alerted CCTV to 3 girls walking home through the park – they were safely monitored until they got out the other side
– two potential fights diffused
– stopped a man taking home a woman who was protesting that she didn’t know him
– met a girl (15yrs old) out on her own, but with drunk men hanging around her at 3.30am. Helped her get home safely
– over 50 bottles/glasses removed from the street
– 12 pairs flip flops given out to women who were having trouble walking on their heels
