Away From It All Family Holiday

The Mothers’ Union in Winchester Diocese has run a week-long family holiday in August every year for over 50 years.  The holiday is offered to families in the area who are in difficult circumstances and who would not otherwise be able to get a break.C:\Users\Sue\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache\Content.Word\dave the duck.jpg

Currently the holiday is held at Lodge Hill in Pulborough in Sussex, who are very welcoming and helpful, and provide activities such as archery, climbing and quad-biking for the families.  We provide a team of helpers who organise activities for both children and adults and support anyone who has particular difficulties.  The team includes a chaplain, and services are held each day which the guests can attend if they wish.  And of course our mascot, Dave the Duck, also joins us every year!

This holiday has made a huge difference to the lives of many people over the years.

Here are a few of the comments from guests:

  • “Best day out since I was a child”
  • “I’ve waited such a long time for this holiday”
  • “The only thing I didn’t like about the holiday was going home!”
