Several Mothers’ Union groups and members across the region covered by the Diocese of Winchester, support Street Pastor schemes including in Southampton, Chandlers Ford and Basingstoke. If you are involved with, or interested in learning more about Street Pastors the following events might be of interest: REGIONAL STREETLIFE GATHERING Saturday 18th September 2010, 2pm [...] Southampton Street Pastors and members of the public pose for a photo Southampton Street Pastors have been patrolling the city centre on Friday and Saturday nights since May this year. There 48 volunteers are each out once per month from 10pm to 4am helping people to stay safe and have a good time. [...] Southampton Street Pastors, who we supported earlier this year with a donation of flip-flops, are in need of volunteers for their prayer teams on Friday and Saturday nights. The teams that go out on the streets on those nights have been making a considerable difference to the people of Southampton. Some of these were passed via members to the newly launched Southampton Street Pastors. Their area co-ordinator Richard Pitt has recently been in touch with the following message and update: “Thanks so much for the [...] A pile of more than 60 pairs of flip-flops were collected at our Mothers’ Union Festival Service last Wednesday. Some were immediately taken by members for the newly launched Southampton Street Pastors group, and the rest will be distributed in the next few weeks to Portsmouth Street Pastors (from whom we heard at our [...] We are now looking for local Mothers’ Union members in Southampton, Eastleigh and Fair Oak to provide a simple link with the Street Pastors in their area.
